Why Yoga
When you first start with yoga it might look it is all about the physical aspect of the asanas (the postures) but there is so much more to yoga than that. Actually the postures help you to get to know your body & your limits. Secondly, they can help you to get out of your comfort zone (hello balancing poses) . Thirdly, they can help you to love yourself from the inside out. Not even mentioning the other seven limbs such as the yama’s & niyama’s (do’s & don’ts) and meditation.
Ilove yoga. Every day I start with my yoga & meditation routine. Sometimes it is a short practise, sometimes an hour long, but it is always fulfilling. It makes me feel calmer, more balanced. I see things with more clarity, I feel connected to the elements. The most meaningful is that I reconnect with myself. With my body, my mind, my spirit, my intuition, my inner voice, and my soul. I never step off the mat feeling worse. Although sadness or frustration can come up, but you learn to observe it and let it be there instead of pushing it away. This self-care ritual is priceless for me.
My Story
Years ago I wasn’t feeling too well. From the outside, everything looked great. I worked as a lawyer, had a nice house, a big group of friends and super active social life. But I tried to get appreciation and love from the outside. After another break-up and a workshop about goals & dreams I realised something had to change so I went to a therapist. The first thing she said was ” you are living way too much in your head, there is no connection to your body. You should start with yoga”. And so I did. First it was just once a week with a friend (and we went for Thai food afterwards, which was our ‘reward’). But after a while I wanted to know more about it.
In 2015 I went to a 10 day silent retreat in Bali. Every day yoga, meditation, being by myself & with myself was an amazing experience. I felt something was shifting inside me, I reconnected with my true self. After that, I slowly integrated yoga into my daily life. By taking small steps like getting up half an hour earlier or do a meditation in the train to work it became part of my daily routine. Now I can’t live without it. If I don’t do it, I feel something is missing.
In April 2019 a long wish came true as I did my Yoga Teacher Training focused on Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda in the South of Spain. I was drawn to Yoga Therapy as it is tailored specifically to the person’s wants & needs. And to Ayurveda because it is the “science of life”. Giving my first class and seeing the yogi’s serene and relaxed faces when they came out of Savasana was the confirmation that I am giving that peaceful feeling and connectedness to others.
Now I am super excited that I can share this with you and offer personalised Yoga online and Retreats in our beautiful forest facing accommodation in Pals, Spain.
