What is holistic health?
I have been interested in healthy eating & a healthy lifestyle for a long time and I learned a lot of new things on the way, but all the pieces of the puzzle came together in holistic health. So what is holistic health? Holistic means that you look at the whole picture, not just separate parts. Holistic derives from the Greek word ‘holon’ that means whole(ness) or completeness. It is about everything that influences you, on and off the plate. It is not only the food you eat, the liquids you drink, the creams that you smear on your body, but also your relationships, your career, your physical activity and spiritual practice.
An important part of holistic for me is about loving yourself. To love (AMAR) yourself from the inside (INS) out. To accept yourself fully, your authentic you. Besides that, looking at the whole picture also means to let all your feelings, either ‘positive’ or ‘negative’, be there and accept them. Not always easy, but after pushing them away for years and always trying to be ‘perfect’ I now welcome them in and that makes a huge difference. No more fighting, but allowing, allowing everything to be there. Looking at the whole (emotional) picture.
How I became a Holistic Health Coach
I was coaching new colleagues in my corporate job for years. It gave me a lot of energy and I loved helping them to develop themselves and their skills. I received really positive feedback from my colleagues and my manager. But at one point the legal world wasn’t making me happy and fulfilled anymore. I wanted to be able to really help women, help them grow personally, and make an important difference in their lives on a deeper level. So I started looking for a course that combined my passions for coaching, personal growth & development, yoga, spirituality, self-love, relationships and healthy eating. I choose the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where all this came together and became a Holistic Health Coach.
Now, as an Holistic Health Coach I guide you to balance everything that is on your plate (literally and figuratively). Looking at the whole picture and balance everything that is influencing you can have a huge impact. An imbalance in one area can have impacts in other areas you might not even be aware off. Coco, one of my clients, was working very hard, tired, not having a lot of energy and also her relationship could use some more passion. During our coaching it turned out that the underlying imbalance was not being in touch with her femininity. When we started working on this, all areas in her life started to bloom.
That’s why in my Coaching I’ll dive with you into the root cause of an imbalance and not just look at the symptoms, because this is where the real transformation starts. With small steps we will create new sustainable habits so you can fulfill your goals and dreams.
